چکیده
This study analyses the feeding ecology of Brevortia aurea (Brazilian menhaden) larvae during a reproductive season in Río de la Plata estuary (RPE), and explores its changes along larval development. Data were obtained from stomach content 205 individuals collected with Bongo net spring 2001. Larvae discriminated into preflexion (PF), flexion (F) post-flexion (PsF) stages. Feeding was described using complementary metrics like incidence (FI), Relative Importance different prey types consumed (IRI), Degree digestion (E) Diet overlap (D), which estimated compared between Also, morphometric relationships (body length, BL vs mouth width, MW) MW maximum width (Wmax) established for range observed sizes. The overall FI 46.3% increased development stage: 40.4% PF, 63.3% F, 78.6% PsF. occurred mainly sunlit hours but no clear daily cycle could be established. Copepods particular Acartia tonsa well represented among ingested preys, followed by invertebrate eggs nauplii. Prey diversity stages tended to decrease as progressed. B. exhibited isometric growth relation BL. Average Wmax 222.5 µm ± 100.9 SD, non-linearly both MW. Gape size alone did not seem limiting factor choice (size), we hypothesize that factors involved mechanism other than gape linked capture performance substantially influence this species RPE.

Biodiversity and ecology of Hirudinea (Annelida) from the Natural Reserve of Isla Martín García, Río de la Plata, Argentina.
The Island of Martin Garcia lies at the confluence of the Uruguay and Paraná Rivers (upper Río de la Plata). This island is an outcrop of the crystalline basement. Due to basalt exploitation the island exhibits several ponds covered by carpets of free-floating macrophytes. Seven major environmental variables were measured: water and air temperature, percentage of oxygen saturation, dissolved ox...
متن کاملVariation in worm assemblages associated with Pomacea canaliculata (Caenogastropoda, Ampullariidae) in sites near the Río de la Plata estuary, Argentina.
Pomacea canaliculata is a common gastropod in freshwater habitats from Central and Northern Argentina, extending northwards into the Amazon basin. Several Platyhelminthes have been reported associated to P. canaliculata, sharing an intimate relationship with this gastropod host. The objectives of this study were to describe the symbiotic species assemblages associated to P. canaliculata in the ...

The Island of Martin Garcia is located in the Upper Río de la Plata, to the south of mouth the Uruguay River. The aim of the present study was to analyse the biodiversity of the island freshwater mollusks and their relationships to environmental variables. Twelve sampling sites were selected, five were along the littoral section of the island and seven were Inland ponds. Seven major environment...
متن کاملSusceptibility and compatibility of Biomphalaria tenagophila from the Río de la Plata basin with Schistosoma mansoni from Brazil.
Schistosomiasis has expanded to southern parts of Brazil. Between 2005-2007 the dispersion and the proliferation of Biomphalaria tenagophila was verified in the province of Corrientes near the Brazilian border. In order to study the possibility that schistosomiasis might spread into the basins of the Paraná and Uruguay Rivers, 440 B. tenagophila collected from 10 populations groups were experim...
